Contest!
So I’m having a little contest – or a medium-sized contest—in conjunction with educating my watchers on an independent project I and ~Inuibuki have been working on since early last year: Penumbra.

Penumbra, as we call it, is a story that takes place in a world largely resembling that of ancient Mesoamerica. The characters and settings are distinctly modeled off of Mesoamerican and Andean cultures, which were incredibly technological and sophisticated for their time—contrary to what the media keeps feeding people.

Our goal is to shed some light on the integrity of their wits, and by incorporating their finds and their culture into Penumbra, I think we finally found a way to do that.

So What’s the story?

The story of Penumbra follows the plight of a man-spirit named Uasir, who was initially the severed soul of a powerful sorcerer—what they call the nahualli. When that sorcerer died, Uasir became contrary in purpose, and resisted his own ‘death’ by latching onto the life of the planet, using others to sustain his half-spirit so that he can “live”.

As the world becomes corrupt, however, the planet begins to emit a poison. While harmless to humans, it affects the world around them—including the spirit plane so susceptible to the world’s weight—and forces everyone to migrate north.

Uasir is faced with obstacles he would otherwise be impervious to, since he’s living on borrowed time and energy. New friends and foes remind him that sometimes, you just need to give back what you stole—even if that means being contrary to what’s already contrary.

Awesome. So what’s the contest about?
Well, now that you have some background, the contest is very simple…

There are two criteria—one for writers and one for visual artists. Since people are pretty much still guessing about this whole thing, it’s not going to be too specific or difficult to enter in this contest, because I really just want to get the word out about my project.

…That being said, all criteria are as follows:

Criteria for Artists
<sub>- You draw your OC in Penumbra world—and Prenumbra world is not discriminatory against animals, so if your character is four-legged, give it some ancient!pizazz.
- The image must be predominantly red in hue. Accent whatever secondary color you feel is necessary if you must.
- You image MUST BE FULLY COLORED. No sketches, no linearts.
- You must reference a jaguar in your image. Whether it be just their spots, a statue, a symbol, whatever you can think of. Jaguars are the MesoAmerican Lion. They’re courageous.
- The title must be in Quechua. Google words if you have to. That’s half the fun. :3</sub>

Criteria for Writers
<sub>- Your prompt is “Time”
- You can write about anything, but it must take place in Penumbra world.
- You have to reference the jaguar, as well.
- The title must be in Quechua, as well. Google terms.</sub>

I’ll say now, that the deadline is going to be July 9th. So you have pretty much a chunk of a month to get this done. :] I won’t take late entries, most certainly, and you can only enter once, got it?
